What Causes

Paul is a business professional in a Midwest city who has been suffering from a disease called Halitosis. In other words, Paul has chronic bad breath and his business, social and personal life have been affected by the disease of halitosis which plagues over 80 million Americans annually. Can you relate with Paul?

Inability to speak up on the job because of fear of breath?

Lack of confidence at the party because of fear of breath?

Significant other always offering a breath mint or piece of gum?

Worried when next ‘embarrassing moment’ of bad breath will occur?

Fortunately, Paul didn’t ignore his problem? Paul decided to be pro-active against fighting halitosis and get his life back on track! Paul realized that knowledge is the best weapon again fighting any disease; He decided to become informed about what he is dealing with and treat halitosis naturally. Please keep on reading to understand the disease of halitosis and how you can begin to say ‘good-bye’ to bad breath.

What is Bad Breath?

Chronic halitosis is a condition in which a person produces an offensive odor from their oral or nasal regions that they are unable to eliminate through normal oral hygiene techniques, such as brushing and flossing. There are two main types of bad breath. Transient Bad Breath and Chronic Bad Breath.

Two Main Types of Bad Breath

Transient Bad Breath is a temporary condition with a variety of causes. The foods you eat (garlic, onions, etc.), dry mouth, morning breath and poor oral hygiene are common causes of transient bad breath. Transient Bad Breath will go away quickly with the aid of breath mints, chewing gum or toothpaste.

Chronic bad breath is more persistent than transient bad breath and this serious condition affects approximately one-fourth of the population. This type of bad breath requiring specialized treatment is caused by and excess of certain types of oral bacteria. The primary bacterium causing chronic bad breath is one called streptococcus mutans.

What causes bad breath?

About 90% of the time, bad breath is caused by bacterium in the mouth. However, sometimes bad breath can be caused by a bodily disease which must be promptly addressed by a doctor! Some diseases include: local infection in the respiratory tract, chronic sinusitis, postnasal drip, chronic bronchitis, diabetes or gastrointestinal disturbance, liver or kidney ailment.

Fortunately, most cases of bad breath can be treated by changing diet, habit and sometimes a lifestyle change. Listed are common causes of persistent bad breath odor.

Common Causes of Bad Breath

1. Over-the-counter medications that cause dry mouth.

2. Not enough water during the day. (Recommended 8-10 glasses per day)

3. Excess amounts of alcohol.

4. Excess amounts of coffee.

5. Overusing breath mints or mouthwash.

6. High fat or protein diets

7. Cavities. (Regularly see your dentist!)

8. Improper hygiene care (There is a technique to brushing, flossing, scraping and rinsing.)

9. Bacteria left on back part of tongue after cleaning teeth and mouth.

10. Use of tobacco.

11. Foods such as garlic, onions, etc…

12. Braces or dentures.

5. Start the cut calories/exercise diet instead! The high protein/low carbohydrate diet may have allowed people to lost weight, but it has also caused people to have bad breath.

6. Have some carbohydrates! If the body does not get enough carbs; the body will begin to break down fats which release a horrible smell from the mouth.

7. Moderate sugar intake! The more sugar equals the more tooth decay which causes bad breath.

8. Graze! Eating small amounts of food throughout day is helpful to whole body and breath.

9. Brush twice a day and floss twice a day!

10. Clean that tongue! No, not with soap! Clean your tongue with your toothbrush dipped in your mouth wash. Gently brush until the white/yellow film has left tongue.

  3. QUESTION:
What causes some people to talk pigeon toed after childhood?
I’m 14 and my feet always point inward when I walk and stand. When I was growing up they said I would out grow it. But I’m already 14 and it never went away. I looked online and it says most kids outgrow it and walk normal later.

So what happened to me? I can point my feel straight but I can’t turn them outward like most people. I try to remember to point them straight but most of the time I forget because I think about something else.

  4. QUESTION:
What causes your head to pound/ache while riding a Schwinn trike?
I can’t ride a bike because of my lack of balance caused by moderate hearing loss. Anyway this morning I took my brother’s dog around my yard for a lap. He wanted to go again(the yard is covered with rocks so the road won’t get muddy) so I did. Each time I did a lap(I took a break in between) my legs would burn and my head would pound and ache but go awa ywhen I stopped after awhile.

    • ANSWER:
Your Schwinn Trike weighs in excess of 65 pounds. Trike is single speed and gearing is too tall. You are exerting a lot of energy trying to pedal this inefficient beast. All that effort taxes the muscles into a heart pounding ache. The tall gearing does not allow the legs to spin and work efficiently.
If you have a trike with multiple gears, you would not experience the heart pounding and achy legs.
      Good Luck

  6. QUESTION:
What causes someone to be submissive?
Interested in the more psychological reason.
What could make for example a gay guy be submissive?(expect for overly feminine men who just act girly because thats what they think is gay)
I mean what could make a gay submissive guy to like being dominated sexually and even wear symbols of submission like collars etc… Is it being abused in younger life?Being ignored and only gaining attention when he is in a bad spot?

Is it a certain type of masochism? But without the pain part and more of the idea/thought of items like collars for example

    • ANSWER:
For anyone that chooses to be submissive, that decision is a very personal one. It can stem from a number of reasons but a past of abuse is rarely the cause. People may decide this lifestyle suites them because they came from an upbringing that was mother dominated and they hated the way the mother bossed everone around, so they choose to be submissive. Others see the male dominated household as ‘right’ and they fit naturally into it. Others take the lifestyle because they enjoy the subjication that comes from being poperty. You could ask each and every submissive and slave and get a different story and a different answer!

  7. QUESTION:
what are the causes for a person either being a werewolf or not?
whats causes a person to think their a werewolf?what if they had some symptoms?though aside what do you think a female if she was turning into a werewolf what are the signs if he is one?i cant tell if i am one its hard to tell.

    • ANSWER:
What causes someone to think they are something special is almost always different, but usually once they get the idea into their heads it becomes a die hard that seeks even the tiniest bit of proof for confirmation. You can only imagine what its like to have these kinds of thoughts (until you do, of course.),random dreams occur, you find yourself searching the internet for some kind of proof. And unfortunately most people end up here and they get mocked.
Unfortunately for these people there are so many others that say they know whats going on, occasionally they might, but most likely not.
There are no for sure symptoms as mythology grants so many and modern fiction pollutes all other ideas.
My over all advice is let it flow for a bit and then just stop and forget it. It may be hard but once you stop you won’t start again.

  15. QUESTION:
What causes black skin to lose colour & turn white -loss of pigment? is this case cureable?
Why does this condition affect parts near outlets or inlets like the mouth, eye, private parts? is there any cure? if not can the spreading be controlled? what is the condition called by name?

    • ANSWER:
Vitiligo is a skin condition of white patches resulting from loss of pigment. Any part of the body may be affected. Usually both sides of the body are similarly affected by a few too many milky-white patches. Common areas of involvement are the face, lips, hands, arms, legs and genital areas.

      Who Gets Vitiligo?
Vitiligo affects one or two of every 100 people. About half the people who develop it do so before the age of 20; about one fifth have a family member with this condition. Most people with vitiligo are in good general health.

      What Determines Skin Color?
Melanin, the pigment that determines color of skin, hair, and eyes, is produced in cells called melanocytes. If these cells die or cannot form melanin, the skin becomes lighter or completely white.

      What Causes Vitiligo?
Vitiligo is the result of the disappearance of the skin’s melanocytes. No one knows why, but four main theories exist:

Abnormally functioning nerve cells may make toxic substances that injure melanocytes
The body’s immune system may destroy melanocytes. Researchers think pigment may be destroyed as the body responds to a substance it perceives as foreign.
Pigment-producing cells may self-destruct. While pigment is forming, toxic byproducts could be produced and destroy melanocytes.
There is a genetic defect that makes the melanocytes susceptible to injury.

      How Does Vitiligo Develop?
The course and severity of pigment loss differ with each person. Light-skinned people usually notice the contrast between areas of vitiligo and suntanned skin in the summer. Year round, vitiligo is more obvious on people with darker skin. Individuals with severe cases can lose pigment virtually everywhere. There is no way to predict how much pigment an individual will lose.

Typical vitiligo shows areas of milky-white skin. However, the degree of pigment loss can vary within each vitiligo patch. There may be different shades of pigment in a patch or a border of darker skin may circle an area of light skin.

Vitiligo often begins with a rapid loss of pigment. This may continue until, for unknown reasons, the process stops. Cycles of pigment loss, followed by times where the pigment doesn’t change, may continue indefinitely.

It is rare for skin pigment in vitiligo patients to return on its own. Some people who believe they no longer have vitiligo actually have lost all their pigment and no longer have patches of contrasting skin color. While their skin is all one color, they still have vitiligo.

      How is Vitiligo Treated?
Sometimes the best treatment for vitiligo is no treatment at all. In fair-skinned individuals, avoiding tanning of normal skin can make areas of vitiligo almost unnoticeable. The white skin of vitiligo has no natural protection from sun. These areas are very easily sunburned. A sunscreen with a SPF of at least 15 should be used on all areas of vitiligo not covered by clothing. Avoid the sun when it is most intense to avoid burns.

Disguising vitiligo with make-up, self-tanning compounds or dyes is a safe, easy way to make it less noticeable. Waterproof cosmetics to match almost all skin colors are available at many large department stores. Stains that dye the skin can be used to dye the white patches to more closely match normal skin color. These stains gradually wear off. Self-tanning compounds contain a chemical called dihydroxyacetone that does not need melanocytes to make the skin a tan color. The color from self-tanning creams also slowly wears off. None of these change the disease, but they can improve appearance. Micropigmentation tatooing of small areas may be helpful.

If sunscreens and cover-ups are not satisfactory, your doctor may recommend other treatment. Treatment can be aimed at returning normal pigment (repigmentation) or destroying remaining pigment (depigmentation). None of the repigmentation methods are total, permanent cures.

  28. QUESTION:
    What causes dandruff?

    • ANSWER:
The condition of your hair is a reflection of your body’s general health. Its condition changes for the worse with stress, nutritional deficiencies, hormone shifts, and environmental factors. The real culprit when it comes to dandruff may be a fat-eating, yeast-like fungus called malassezia, formerly known as pityrosporum.

Malassezia lives on the scalps of most healthy adults without causing problems. But sometimes it grows out of control, feeding on the oils secreted by your hair follicles and causing irritation that leads to increased cell turnover.

All skin cells die and are replaced by new cells. Normally, it takes about a month for new cells to move from the lowest layer of your skin, where they form, to the outermost layer, where they die and scale off in flakes. Because cells renew themselves slowly, this process usually isn’t noticeable.

But on scalps where malassezia thrives, the whole process can take as little as 11 days. The result is a large number of dead skin cells. As the cells fall off, they tend to clump together with oil from your hair and scalp, making them appear white, flaky and all too visible.

Mayo Clinic’s recommendations for dandruff self-care are:
      Learn to manage stress.
      Shampoo often.
      Cut back on styling products.
      Eat a healthy diet.
      Get a little sun.

      Hope that helps! Best,

      `k.

What causes sudden, sharp, and brief chest pains when inhaling?
I’ve had this happen a few times. I’ll be doing a normal activity, when suddenly I’ll feel a sharp, needle like pain in my chest when I inhale. I’ve felt this pain all over my ribcage, but never at the same time. It feels like when I inhale, something sharp is sticking in my lung, so I can’t inhale deeply because it hurts worse. After a few shallow breathes and some cautious deep breathes the pain dissapears as suddenly as it comes. Occasionally there’s a tiny popping feeling, then the pain is gone. It’s not anything serious and I know it’s nothing to worry about, I’m just wondering why it happens. Ever since I was a child I’ve imagined it was one of my ribs sticking into my lung. I’m sure this isn’t the case, so I’m wondering what else it could be.

I’m having severe headaches and 8 weeks pregnant, anybody know what the cause could be?
I already have two children, so this is my third pregnancy. I do drink alot of water and have a pretty good diet. The headaches started about a week ago and come about 1pm and last until I fall asleep. I haven’t yet gone to a doctor and obviously I know to go to one to find out what’s actually wrong (so no “nobody can tell you what it is” comments, thanks.) if anyone has had this happen or knows what it could be, I’d appreciate some information.

    • ANSWER:
It’s most likely because of extra hormones that you have in your body right now. Even though you have had two prior pregnancies, each and every pregnancy can effect your body differently. My cousin had terrible headaches with her first pregnancy and there was nothing the doctor could do because it was just the way her body was dealing with the pregnancy hormones.

what would cause a car to lose power when going uphill?
I have a 98 Chevy Blazer, all of a sudden it started sputtering and slowing down when driving up big hills, I thought at first maybe it was bad gasoline, because it went away after a new tank of fuel, but its back again after 2 months or so on the same gas I’ve been using. Of course when I took it to the mechanic it ran fine. Any ideas?

    • ANSWER:
If the two incidences happened in close succession, (say within just a few days of each other), I’d get concerned. Since that isn’t the case it may not be a big deal at all and you likely just encountered some bad gasoline.

I’d take some precautions just to be sure:

Toss an additive into the fuel tank that converts any water in there into fuel. I believe it’s called Dry Gas and any auto store will sell it for about /bottle. I’d also run some fuel injector cleaner through you engine, (maybe /bottle).

Where you buy your fuel may also be causing this. Contrary to popular belief not all gasoline is created equal. There’s a reason gas at places like Sam’s Club costs less – it’s garbage. If you’re buying your gas at any discount place I’d stop. Shell, Exxon Mobile and Sunoco have always been good to my cars.

Also, consider replacing your fuel filter. This is another cheap part, (probably about ), and should probably be replaced anyway. If you’re handy than the filter should be near the gas tank, under the car and held in place by 2 bolts. If you take it to a garage they should be able to do the work for you in about 30 minutes.

If the problem persists after taking those steps than it’s time to get more concerned. I had a bad fuel pump once that took almost a full month to die; when I asked the car for more power it’d sputter and get pretty rough.

My friends bitten 2 weeks ago by a spider. Well, this is what happened. We ride horses together and so we were at our barn. She went to put on her jacket and she got bitten by the spider on her wrist. We didn’t dare to touch it!! So we washed it at the barn. When we got to her house, her arm started to swell and there were three green bit marks. The thing is we didn’t see it before. She could barely move it and it hurt if she tried to even pick up a pencil!!!:( So we just iced her arm all night and the next morning it was gone!!! So I am asking what spider bit can cause that????

    • ANSWER:
Getting bit by a spider is a lot like a fire ant. your friend would have noticed and seen the spider.
Your GF may have low tolerance to venom for this severity. This also sounds more like a wasp sting.
A cobweb spider can have similar reactions, but the bite would leave a small red spot at the site.
The numbness was likely the result of the swelling.

  49. QUESTION:
What is the cause of the riots in England?
I live in Ireland and all I’ve been seeing on the news is these riots in England. My parents told me it was due to some black man getting shot by the police without motive in Tottenham but surely that can’t be the only reason. I mean all those teenagers look like a bunch of fu*king r*tards destroying their own cities over that, no offense.

  50. QUESTION:
What could be causing hair loss in my home?
Me my mom and sister have lived in the same house for 15 years. Two years ago we noticed gradual hair loss and thought it was no big deal. However, our hair loss still continues and I can notice my hair is much more thin. Hair loss does not run in our family and I believe the problem might be environmental. The fact that we all started loosing hair around the same time doesn’t really point to genetic hair loss.
